Pest & Weed Control

The Rural Municipality of Hart Butte is committed to protecting agricultural land, infrastructure, and private property through effective pest, rat, and weed control programs. These services help maintain healthy crops, safe roadways, and a sustainable rural environment while supporting producers and residents across the municipality.

 

Pest Control Services

Pest control services focus on the prevention, monitoring, and management of designated pests within the RM, with a strong emphasis on rat control. Early detection and prompt response are critical to preventing the spread of infestations and minimizing damage to farms, businesses, and residences.

The RM works closely with landowners and provincial authorities to coordinate inspections, provide guidance on approved control methods, and respond to reported pest concerns. Residents are encouraged to report pest activity as soon as possible.

Pest Control products are available to ratepayers at the RM office for rats and gopher control. The office also has weighted bait stations available for purchase for ratepayers.

Until a new Pest Control Officer is named, pest control will continue to be the responsibility of the landowner.

Weed Control Services

​

Weed control services support the identification and management of noxious and prohibited weeds on municipal lands, road allowances, and private property, in accordance with provincial legislation. Effective weed management helps protect crop yields, preserve native vegetation, and prevent the spread of invasive species.

The RM promotes education, cooperation, and compliance to ensure timely control and long-term land sustainability. Landowners may request inspections, receive guidance on control practices, and learn about their responsibilities under applicable regulations.
